September 2026 Edition

We hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Labor Day weekend and found some time to relax, recharge, and enjoy the unofficial end of summer.

As we head into September, there’s plenty happening at FED. From projects reaching the finish line and celebrating alongside our customers to sharing industry insights and recognizing some impressive accomplishments from our own team, we have a lot to catch you up on.

Let’s jump into this month’s edition of The Beamline!

Project Spotlight: Fick & Sons Gas Station

This project is officially open and serving the Kalkaska community! To most, it may look like a great new and improved gas station.

To us, it represents something even more meaningful: trust built over the years and a customer relationship we value greatly.

Industry Insight: What Happens Before We Hand Over the Keys?

A building may look finished, but there’s an important stage between the end of construction and the day a customer officially takes over their new space: project closeout.

Closeout ensures the building doesn’t just look ready. It needs to be ready to operate.

That includes final inspections and punch lists, system testing and commissioning, owner training, documentation, warranties, and coordinating the final details needed for occupancy.

At FED, we view closeout as an important part of the customer experience. Our goal isn’t simply to finish construction. It’s to make sure our customers understand their new facility, have the information they need, and feel confident operating it long after our team leaves the jobsite.

A successful project isn’t finished when construction stops. It’s finished when the customer is ready to move forward.

Inside FED: A Project Worth Celebrating

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Stoops

Recently, our team joined Stoops Freightliner – Western Star and members of the Grayling community to officially celebrate the opening of their new facility!

After watching this project progress from the ground up, it was rewarding to come together and celebrate the finished space with the people who helped make it possible.

We’re incredibly proud of the building, but even more grateful for the relationships built along the way. There’s nothing better than reaching the finish line knowing our customer is excited about the space they’ll call home for years to come.

Congratulations to the entire Stoops team!
